Goals and Objectives

Goals
–Improve patient safety
–Improve patient quality of care
–Decrease hospital patient malnutrition re-admissions – Unintended weight loss is a common cause for re-admission
–Decrease costs associated with treating the consequences of malnutrition
–Raise priority of patient nutritional care among healthcare clinicians and physicians
Objectives
–Provide hospitals and the healthcare continuum with the necessary benchmarking nutritional care data to optimize  their facility’s approach to nutrition and dietary care
–Allow individual hospitals to compare their nutritional care data to other similar participating facilities
–Allow participating facilities to benchmark their progress at minimizing healthcare malnutrition annually
–Provide nutritional care educational programs  to nutritional care clinicians, and physicians aimed at minimizing healthcare malnutrition
